Climate Change Commission for Wales – 7 Key Manifesto Areas
The Climate Change Commission for Wales (CCCW) brings together key sectors and organisations to build agreement on the action needed to tackle the challenges of climate change in Wales. The Commission has put together a Manifesto based on their 7 key priorities to support action on climate change – these include reducing emissions from the built environment, building resilience to manage the impact of climate change, managing our land use and engaging civil society.
These are areas which will require action by the incoming Welsh Government following the Assembly Elections in May 2016. Following the introduction of the world leading Wellbeing of Future Generations Act, the Environment Bill, and the “Paris Agreement” from COP21 in December 2015, it is vital that the Welsh Government takes decisive action to transition to a low carbon economy and society.
We have also asked Leaders of the main political parties to sign a commitment and pledge to deliver a Programme of Government which can deliver the Paris Agreement and ensure Wales shows leadership to deliver action on climate change.
Over the next few weeks, we will be promoting each of the 7 key Manifesto areas and the Commission’s top asks, highlighting what is being done in Wales in the public sector, in business and within the local community and what more needs to be done in future.
