Peter Davies, Sustainable Futures Commissioner response to the proposed set of National Well-being Indicators for Wales
There are seven well-being goals set out in the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
• A Prosperous Wales
• A Resilient Wales
• A More Equal Wales
• A Healthier Wales
• A Cohesive Communities
• A Wales of Vibrant Culture and Thriving Welsh Language
• A Globally Responsible Wales
If we are to collectively achieve these well-being goals we need a way of measuring progress so that we can all see if, for Wales as a whole, things are getting better. The Act placed a legal requirement for Welsh Ministers to set national indicators to measure progress.
The Welsh Government have been undertaking a consultation to seek views on the set of national well-being indicators for Wales. More information on all of the indicators and the consultation can be found on the Welsh Government Website. http://gov.wales/docs/desh/consultation/151022-fg-act-consultation-document-en.pdf
Sustainable Futures Commissioner, Peter Davies has produced a thorough response to the draft indicators. Peter highlights the need for the indicators to be small and manageable in numbers, inclusive and coherent, population-based and ensures progress against all seven goals to be measured.
